LG is going to launch a new smartphone in a bunch of countries in South and Central America, Asia and the Common-wealth of Independent States, including India. The handset, dubbed the Optimus F5, will be making its way to stores in the coming weeks. The price of the handset hasn't been revealed, but the company has stated that the pricing will be competitive.

The LG Optimus F5 is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and runs on LG's own UI with some very features including Q-Slide, Live zooming, Video Wiz and Q-Translator, much like the flagship Optimus G.

On the hardware side of things, the handset is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor from Qualcomm and 1GB RAM, so performance should be good. It is equipped with a 4.3-inch IPS display with a pixel density of 256 PPI.

It has 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD slot that will let you expand the memory up to 32GB for further extended storage needs. For photography enthusiasts, it has a 5 megapixel camera and a 1.3 megapixel rear camera. The dimensions of the handset are 126.0 x 64.5 x 9.3 mm.

In Korea, LG is launching yet another new handset, dubbed the Optimus GK. The handset is set to be a competitor to Samsung's new flagship handset, the Galaxy S4, thanks to its 5-inch full HD display.

Hardware-wise, the handset is more-or-less the same as the Optimus G Pro, but with a smaller screen. It is powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. To keep it alive, it is equipped with a 3,100 mAh battery. It has 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD. It also has a 13 megapixel camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera.

As of now, there is no word from LG about a possible global release of the Optimus GK.
